The Golden Chariot is a royal experience, a journey that is much more than a luxury train ride. The Golden Chariot tour epitomizes the rich Indian heritage and journeys through one of the most exotic regions in the world - THE GOLDEN CHARIOT train named after the famous Stone Chariot in Hampi, a world heritage site, in Southern India will travel through timeless Historical Heritage Sites, Resplendent Palaces, Wildlife and Golden Beaches. It’s 7 Nights / 8 Days colorful journey begins every Monday from Bangalore and traverses through Mysore, visiting Srirangapatna, Mysore Palace; the Nagarhole National Park (Kabini) and continuing to the historical sites of Shravanabelagola, Belur-the 11th century cradle of Hoysala architecture and a world heritage site, Halebidu, Hampi and thereafter entering into the triangular heritage site of Badami, Pattadakal, Aihole, and finally the Golden Beaches of Goa before ending in Bangalore.

Accommodation aboard this Indian luxury train is available in three levels of occupancy - single, double and triple sharing basis. Prices applicable for all 3 level of occupancy have been mentioned for the season 2018 - 2019.

06.00 am Departure from Mysore. 08.40 am Arrival at Hassan. 09.30 am Drive to Halebidu / Belur (A World of Worship). 01.00 pm Board the train & lunch onboard. 04.00 pm Drive to sravanbelagola and visit famous Jain Temple. 07.00 pm Return to train, dinner onboard. 07.40 pm Departure to TB DAM. Tour Details: 6 Nights / 7 Days

Day 1 : Monday : Bangalore
Report at The Taj West End Hotel by 4 p.m. for check-in formalities followed by high tea & brief presentation. Proceed for visit to art gallery, followed by cultural program. Reach Yeshwantpur Railway Station, by 8 pm & be escorted to respective Cabins. Dinner on board & train departs by 9 pm for Chennai.
Day 2 : Tuesday : Chennai & Mamallapuram
Morning from 9 am to 12 Noon discover the old charms in modern cosmopolitan city of Chennai, driving through beach road & visiting St Thomas Church & Cholamanda Art Village. Later drive to Mahabalipuram for lunch at beach resort ,followed by visit UNESCO World Heritage Site of Sea Shore temples, built more than 1200 years ago.Return to Chennai Railway station by 630 pm & depart
Day 3 : Wed : Auroville & Pondicherry
Morning excursion to Auroville-a modern commune ,dedicated to unification of all religions. Return to train for lunch Afternoon stroll through beach town of Pondicherry-this former French colony, exudes a Mediterranean aura with French style architecture and boutiques. Proceed for dinner to eco-resort & later return to train & depart.
Day 4 : Thurs : Tanjavur
World-famous for Brahadishwara temple, a historical monument dating back to 11th century which now is an UNESCO World Heritage Site. The region also offers unique Tanjavur style paintings and Tanjavur dolls.
Day 5 : Fri : Madurai
After breakfast,visit famed Meenakshi Temple & stroll through the local market.Return to train for lunch. Late afternoon visit Poompuhar Handicrafts Emporium for optional shopping. proceed to Tirumalai Nayak Mahal for sound & light show, followed by dinner & traditional folk performance at The Heritance. Return to train & depart
Day 6 : Sat : Kanyakumari, Trivandrum & Kovalam
Early morning 05:45 am to 8 am proceed to Kanyakumari sunrise point & brief city tour. Return to train for breakfast & depart. Lunch also on-board late afternoon visit Trivandarum Palace & evning excursion to Kovallam beach, followed by Gala Dinner & cultural program in Luxury Beach resort
Day 7 : Sun : Kerala Backwaters & Kochi
Morning visit Alleppey is also known as the “Venice of the east”. & more famous as Kerala Backwaters Enjoy boat cruise through its canals. Afternoon visit “Queen of the Arabian sea” Kochi.
Day 08 : Bangalore Return : Morning train returns to Bangalore. Tour ends

Train Tariff

Fare - October 2018 - March 2019

The Golden Chariot journeys are subject to alteration, amendment, change or modification. In case of unforeseen condition such as force majeure events, fairs, strikes, festivals, weather conditions, sports events, flood, earthquake, traffic problems, cancellation/rerouting of flights or railways, closure/restricted entry at a place of sightseeing and non-availability of venues etc, the train tours may be changed or altered without any prior notice. Karnataka State Development Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation (KSTDC) reserves all rights to alter/change/cancel a journey.


  • Half fare for children between 5 and 12 years.
  • 10% Surcharge shall be levied on departures during Christmas & New Year.
  • Service tax @3.65% shall be levied on the prevalent tariff of The Golden Chariot as per Government of India norms.
  • The Tariff does not include Drinks, tips, laundry, telephone calls, video camera fees, spa, business car facilities, liquor and other items of personal nature.


  • To Reserve, the guests needs to pay 20% of ticket value at the time of confirming the booking. The remaining 80% of ticket value is to be paid at least 60 days prior to departure.
  • Amendments to the services would be regarded as a cancellation of the original services. The following charges would be levied in case of cancelation of the bookings.
  • 5% of the ticket value would be deducted if cancellation is made 60 days or more prior to departure date.
  • 20% of the ticket value cost would be deducted if the cancellation is made between 59 and 30 days prior to the departure date.
  • 50% of the ticket value will be deducted if cancellation is made between 29 and 15 days prior to departure.
  • No refunds would be given if the cancellation is made 14 days prior to the departure date.
